Upward Ministry

The vision of the Upward Ministry is to submit to God's authority, change generations thru sports ministry and recognize that Every Child Is A Winner! Upward promotes: 1) Salvation by sharing the love of Jesus Christ with everyone involved in the ministry 2) Character by helping every child grow as Jesus did - spiritually, physically, mentally and socially 3) Self-esteem by helping every child grow in their understanding and enjoyment of sports. Upward is an exciting sports program for both boys and girls, 1-8th grade! We have leagues in both basketball and cheerleading. We provide an equal opportunity for playing time and skill improvement. Practice is once a week througout the season and games are on Saturdays in January,February and March. Registration includes the uniform, a music CD and many other fun items.

Basketball shorts are included in the registration cost. Cheerleading mock turtlenecks are included in the registration cost. EVALUATION INFORMATION: Everyone must attend one basketball evaluation or cheerleading orientation in the Fortress Church Gym. LEAGUE SCHEDULE: Practices begin on Monday, January 5, 2009 First Game - Saturday, January 17, 2009 Awards Celebration - Monday, March 9, 2009

Upward basketball provides a wonderful opportunity for boys and girls, 1-6th grade, to learn new skills and build character. Our goal is to promote Christian sportsmanship and integrity. Goal heights for different ages: 1-2nd grade = 8 ft. 3-4th grade = 9 ft. 5-6th grade = 10 ft.
 We need volunteers in the following areas: Coaches Prayer Partners Devotional Leaders Registration Set up Team If you are interested in volunteering in any area, please contact Augie Moreno at augiemoreno@sbcglobal.net Volunteer and Coach Training @ Fortress Church Saturday October 11, 2008 - 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Saturday November 8, 2008 - 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Saturday December 13, 2008 - 10:00 AM - 1:00PM Must fill out application before training.
Cheerleading
Upward Cheerleading is for 1-6th grade girls. We provide an opportunity to learn new cheers and support the Upward basketball teams. This program promotes self-esteem and character.
